The S.O.M.A Practice® will arise and awaken your subconscious and support the processing of what was once unsafe to feel.

 

 The Course Chapters

Sense.Open.Move.Awaken®

 

Chapters 1 - 4: Naming what is present in your Soma --The roots (wounds) and branches (warriors)

Chapter 5: Sense -- tune into the felt experience within the body.

Chapter 6: Open -- surrender protective contracted states - open the branches

Chapter 7: Move -- attune to how the body wants to express and move

Chapter 8: Awaken the voice of wisdom or intuition

Chapter 9: Full guided practice with music, qi gong, tapping, and breathwork

 

  To heal the Psyche, the S-O-M-A must speak. 

 

The S.O.M.A Practice® Facilitates the transitioning from the adaptive to the authentic self through:

Sense contraction and emotion, Open to what is present without resistance; become vulnerable; open the armored body, Move the unfinished trauma response somatically and Awaken the voice of wisdom.  

Sensing 

Body Communication begins with tuning into or sensing from the bottom up: cognitive meaning emerges through sensation. 

Learn to drop down into your implicit felt sense through sensory awareness and tracking

(Methods: IFS and Gendlin’s focusing work are utilized).

Opening 

Attune to safety (shifting neuroception from threat to ease) through compassionate connection welcoming  whatever emerges.

An opening of protective defenses naturally occurs as permission, acceptance and non-resistance is perceived.

(Methods: inner-child dialogue, resourcing, neuroscience and organization of adaptive personality shapes)

Moving 

During this phase, we explore what wants to move within the body... what wants expression? 

Using breath-work and other somatic practices, stuck emotions are invited to move using sounds, shaking, emoting, sighing, and various expressive gestures.

(Methods: Somatic Psychology and breath-work) 

Awakening 

Following movement, the nervous system generally shifts towards Ventral Vagal states of rest, digest and play. They are guided from this state to tune into their Authentic self viscerally.  

During the final integration phase,  attuned intuition is used to “hear” healing messages. To integrate is to awaken to ones wholeness. The brain reorganizes and uploads new pathways as the mind mirrors the peace sensed in the body. (Methods: integration and somatic attuning).

Lifts the veil of silent shame uncovering and revealing ones deeply inherent worthiness. 

Awakens adaptive protective parts into their authenticity.

Updates dorsal freeze nervous system states into ventral vagel rest, play and social engagement states.

The course will teach you to Cycle from mind into body through the felt sense, where adaptive patterns/parts and emotions begin to awaken. 

Words transition to somatic listening and expression; communication occurs through sound, breath, emotion, gesture. 

The S.O.M.A Practice® invites surrendering into deep states of belonging, inviting the emergence of suppressed emotion.  Protective survival patterns sense safety and soften; new beliefs are uploaded.

Ones whole persona organizes around trauma. Trauma is not about what happened to you it is what happens inside of you. So in order to heal, we must make contact with our physiology and nervous system.

The S.O.M.A Practice® draws on the wisdom found in psychoanalytic and depth psychologies, IFS, attachment & polyvagel theory, neuroscience studies as well as contemplative traditions.
